The Municipal Utilities Power Plant, located near Miami and North Streets, was constructed in 1919 and decommissioned and torn town in 2020. Over the years the electrical generating system has gone through many changes, from decommissioning older steam units to adding newer gas units. Our goal is to always have the capability to exceed the needs of Marshall during peak demand periods. The charts below show the generating capacity of the various MMU generators, and our historic net peaks.
