"Providing Hometown Reliability"
The North Street Pumping Station was constructed in 1945. This station is operated on a daily basis. It can operate alone or with the Miami Street Pumping Station. A complete renovation of pumps, motors, air system and electrical controls was completed in 1989. We have remote SCADA capabilities to control the pumps in this station. The operators stationed in the Power Plant have control of all pumps except the standby diesel, which still must be started by hand when the need arises.
High service pumps 1, 2, 3, and 4 are located in the North Street Pumping Station.
Pump #1 is a Patterson, installed in 1982. This pump is a horizontal split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 2800 gpm (4 mgd) and a rated head of 170'. This pump is powered by a 185 hp straight line 6 cylinder "White" diesel engine and is used during power failures. This is a variable speed unit and can be used alone or with any other combination of units on line. This unit is operated weekly.
Pump #2 is an Aurora, installed in 1989. This pump is a horizontal split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 1170 gpm (1.7 mgd) and a rated head of 165'. This pump is powered by a 75 hp 3-phase, constant speed electric motor. It can be used with other pumps in either pumping station. This pump can be used on a daily basis, depending on the need of the distribution system.
Pump #3 is a DeLaval, installed in 1965. This pump is a horizontal split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 1600 gpm (2.3 mgd) and a rated head of 165'. It is powered by a 100 hp 3-phase constant speed electric motor. This pump is run daily and can be used as a stand-alone unit or along with any other combination of pumps in either pumping station.
Pump #4 is an Ingersoll-Rand, installed in 1960. This pump is a split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 1400 gpm (2 mgd) and a rated head of 165'. It is powered by a 100 hp 3-phase constant speed electric motor. This pump is run daily and can be used as a stand-alone unit or along with any other combination of pumps in either pumping station.
The Miami Street Pumping Station was constructed in 1972. This station is operated on a daily basis. It was renovated for the first time, along with the North Street Pumping Station, in 1989. This pumping station can operate alone or together with the North Street Pumping Station.
High Service Pumps 5, 6, & 7 are located in Miami Street Pumping Station.
Pump #5 is an Aurora, installed in 1973. It is a split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 1400 gpm (2 mgd) and a rated head of 170'. It is powered by a 100 hp 3-phase constant speed electric motor. This pump is run daily and can be used as a stand-alone unit or along with any other combination of pumps in either pumping station.
Pump #6 is an Aurora, installed in 1973. It is a split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 2450 gpm (3.5 mgd) and rated head of 170'. It is powered by a 150 hp 3-phase constant speed electric motor. This pump is run daily and can be used as a stand-alone unit or along with any other combination of pumps in either pumping station.
Pump #7 is a Patterson, installed in 1988. It is a split case centrifugal pump with a rated capacity of 2775 gpm (4 mgd) and a rated head of 174'. It is powered by a 200 hp 3-phase constant speed electric motor. This unit is not run on a daily basis, but it can also be used as a stand-alone unit or with any other combination of pumps in either pumping station.
