These instructions are for setting up a single computer to MMU's high-speed internet service. Multiple computers could be hooked up, but this would require the purchase of a router, which would include it's own instructions. Your screen may vary slightly from some of the examples shown.

1. Open your Network System Preferences
   1. Click on the System Preferences Icon on the dock. (If it is not visible on the Dock, click the Apple Menu in the top left corner of the screen, then click System Preferences)
   2. Click the Network icon in the Internet and Network section.
   3. Create a new network location
      1. In the Location drop-down menu, choose New Location, and then enter MMU as the neew location name.
      2. In the Show drop-down menu, choose Active Network Ports.
      3. There will be various items in the Active Ports list. Make sure that the only one checked is Built-in Ethernet, and then click Apply Now.

         

      4. Configure your MMU location
         1. In the Show drop-down menu, choose Built-in Ethernet.
         2. On the TCP/IP tab, make sure that the Configure drop-down box is set to Using DHCP. Everything else should be left blank. (Static IP addresses are available if needed, but are rarely necessary.)

            

Note: These instructions are only for a basic connection to our high-speed internet service. Many precautions should also be taken for security purposes such as but not limited to buying a router, using a firewall, installing anti-virus software, disabling Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, and install ing Spyware and Adware prevention software.
