"Providing Hometown Reliability"
Units 7 and 8 are located at the Marshall Water Treatment Plant, and Unit 9 is located at the Marshall Wastewater Treatment Plant. All three are 1 MW diesel engine generators, installed in 1988/89. They burn No. 2 oil. They were installed to provide extra generating capacity and for emergency power at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. Other than testing and checkout, we seldom use these units. They run to meet our electric needs maybe once every two years. In 2013 new controls were installed on unit 9, and in 2014 new controls were installed on units 7 and 8. These units can be started and loaded up very quickly. Unit 9's controls are also automated to start the unit immediately to provide power to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in case of a power outage.
